HOW TO RECITE THE ROSARY
THE ROSARY
The rosary is a series of prayers in honour of our Lord and the blessed Virgin Mary. The whole rosary is composed of fifteen decades. A decade consists of: 'The Lord's Prayer', ten 'Hail Mary's and 'the Glory be to the Father'.
The rosary consists of five decades of beads, as it is a common practice to recite five decades at a time, while meditating on either the five 'joyful', 'sorrowful' or 'glorious' mysteries in the life of our Lord and the blessed Virgin Mary.
It is customary to commence the rosary by saying 'The Apostles' Creed', 'The Lord's Prayer', three 'Hail Mary's and 'the glory be to the Father'.
The 'Hail, Holy Queen' is usually said after the five decades are completed.

O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant we beseech you, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
